BARBARA PAVELL LODEN

1931 - 2012

Barbara Pavell Loden, Babs to everyone who knew and loved her, passed away on April 21, 2012 in Charlotte, NC. She was born October 10, 1931 in Cleveland, OH. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1949 and attended Bennington College in Vermont on scholarship, graduating in 1953. She married Alan S. Loden in 1960 and she stopped working full time after they started their family, they divorced in 2000. A 30 year resident of Palatine, IL, she volunteered in some capacity all of those years. Active with the PTA at both Hunting Ridge Elementary and William Fremd High School, she expanded the volunteer art appreciation programs for several District 15 schools and she was an election judge for 20 of those 30 years. A two time cancer survivor, she never met a stranger, always had a word of encouragement when one was needed, and when requested, counseled with consideration. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Gloria Martin, she is survived by her children Michael, Elizabeth and Rebecca; her daughter-in-law Pamela; her grandchildren Kelsey and Nicholas Loden; her nephew Josh Martin and his family; her niece Jessica Martin; her brother-in-law Marvin Martin and her many cousins and dear friends. Barbara's children are hosting a memorial service to celebrate her life at 1pm on Sunday, October 13th at the Lutheran Church of Atonement Gathering Space located at 909 E. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.
