Rita L. Eckenrode

Rita L. Eckenrode of Malvern Rita L. Eckenrode, 78, of Malvern and Belleair, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at her home with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of William J. Eckenrode, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Born and raised in York, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roland and Mary Louise Privee Nolin. A graduate of York Catholic High School and Prowell's Commercial College, she worked at Sylvania until she had children. She was a homemaker most of her life, and her goal was to be a good wife and mother, a goal she richly achieved. Mrs. Eckenrode was a member of St. Elizabeth Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings and afghans for her family and friends. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kathleen Romano of Malvern, Judy Kron (Bob) of Lansdale, Mary Alice Hallman (Scott) of Westminster, Md., Diane Benson (John) of Ellicott City, Md. and William Eckenrode (Kelly) of Moorestown, N.J.; and by her 12 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Earl and Bruce Nolin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19th, at St. Elizabeth Church, 100 St. Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, where family and friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Interment will be private.
