David was the student teacher at Downingtown High School, when there was no east or west, under Ron Ditzler. He used to ride to work on a motorcycle and all the girls thought he was adorable. Kind of like a Fonzi...before Fonzi existed.

I then went to West Chester State and we became friends, when he was a Grad Assistant there, and still the greatest singer on campus. Some of my most special memories are times spent with David.

His father was Dean of Music then, and ultimately David followed in his footsteps.
I am sure that his family was blessed by his successes, and his love and spirit.

God Bless him. The earth has lost an angel.
Heaven has gained one.

I send my sincere condolences to the family of David A. Sprinkle. He was a renowned music scholar and an inspirational teacher.
His Madrigal group and Renaissance band performances put West Chester University on the map. I was honored to have been asked to chaperone this group on several occasions.

David and I had many things in common. We both graduated from West Chester, although at different times. He and I began our teaching careers at WCU at the same time. We became chairs of our respective departments at the same time, and we served on the executive council together. We also share the same birth date. I will never forget the year David turned 50 when his mother brought a birthday cake to council to celebrate our special day!

David was a supportive colleague and a great friend. His work meant so much to so many students. He will live on in their love of music and in the ways in which they share it with another generation of musicians.

Dave's Family.
My sincerest condolences to the entire family. I had met Dave about 15 years ago
at a Palantine conference when he introduced himself and we realized we were related.
We were both descended from the Immigrant
Wilhelm Sprenckel. Dave was a kind and
thoughtful man. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Sprenkle had a lasting effect on my musical life. He was an inspiring educator and his passion for music came through in every moment I spent as his student. He was a kind person with a wonderful sense of humor. I can only hope to pass on his inspiration to my students. My thoughts are with his family.

Thank you Dr Sprenkle for confirming my love for singing, even if it was a voice class for non music majors. I looked forward to your class every Thursday...To this day, I know it was you who broke me out of my shell when you told me to just "go for that C!" I'll never forget you!

I'm so so sorry for your loss. Dave was such a sweetheart and I always liked to listen to his wisdom and wit. I did not know of his rich musical history, I studied art at WCU and we shared the music department building. He will be missed so much. But his strength will serve as a reminder of all that we can endure and accomplish with grace. My prayers and condolences to his family. So sad and sorry.

Dave, your gentle and thoughtful manner will be deeply missed. One of the highlights of my musical career was accompanying you on tambourine, while you played an Early Music tune (French) on the hurdy-gurdy at an open mic!

David and I had known each other since our days at Henderson H.S. Both very involved in music. Both of us went to WCU for music.I went on to teach music in the East Stroudsburg PA school district for 42 years retiring 3 years ago. Dave and I crossed paths many times as my son went to WCU for music and worked with him.
I will miss his smile, musical talent and most of all his friendship.
My condolences to his family.
Rest in peace dear friend.
