Pearl FIRMAN Obituary

POQUOSON - Pearl Jordan Firman, age 93, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson. Miss Pearl was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Quindie Roe Council #42, Degree of Pocahontas. She was well known for her cakes and enjoyed baking them for loved ones during the holidays. She had a great love of reading and would spend several hours every day with a good book. Her sense of humor and sharp mind will be missed by her family and friends. She is forever in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, David T. Firman; great-grandson, 'Small Paul" Begovich; parents, Elijah Thomas and Polly Jordan; sisters, Sarah 'Piggie' Firth and Velva Bunting; brothers, Dick Jordan, Robert 'Mac' Jordan, and Everett Jordan; and 'dern near everyone I knew.'
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Ann Firman Whittaker and Phyllis Sue Firman Delk (Tom), both of Poquoson; grandchildren, Ellen Begovich (Paul) of St. Augustine, Fla., Scotto Folchetti of Poquoson, Linda Darden (Jimmy) of Kernersville, N.C., Janet Moulton (Rocky) of Charlottesville, David Brogden (Lisa) of Poquoson, Gail Whittaker of Poquoson, and Courtney Day (Wendell) of Newport News; great-grandchildren, Amy Brogden, Ashley and Eric Moulton, Emma and Jay Darden, Jordan Day, and Connor Whittaker; and many nieces and nephews, among them Minnie Firman, whom she loved as one of her own.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A service celebrating Pearl's life will be held immediately following visitation at 3 p.m., in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. George Insley, the Rev. Rita A. Callis, and the Rev. Milford C. Rollins, followed by interment in Eastern Cemetery, Poquoson.
In lieu of flowers, Miss Pearl asked that those wishing to remember her please do so by donating to the Eastern/Weston Cemetery Fund, c/o Bill Weston, 1436 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA 23662; or by enjoying a piece of cake in her honor.

Peggy, Scott and Family,
It was a treat and a pleasure to know Mrs. Pearl and to be lucky enough to live across the street from her. May comfort come to you knowing that she is with the Lord and will never want or need for anything ever again.
