June ALLARDICE Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - June Audrey Allardice, 73, a resident of Williamsburg for over 40 years, passed away on April 6, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Thomas B. Allardice; her parents, Helen and Ingolf Hagen; and her sister, Barbara.
June attended the Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing, where she received her BSN to become a registered nurse. She then worked as a nurse in New York and San Francisco before getting married. After her children were grown, she continued her nursing career at Riverside Community Hospital in Newport News.
She was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church for 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe and Japan. She was a self-taught carpenter, artist, and architect, who designed and built three houses in Queens Lake and a beach house in Duck, N.C. She was also a designer, an exceptional seamstress, and avid food fan. She enjoyed membership of S.A.L.T. (Singles Affirming Life Together), and considered their Wednesday night potluck dinners her favorite event, but also enjoyed decorating for their dances.
June was a loving wife and dedicated mother, and treasured spending time with her family. She is survived by her siblings, younger sister, Lois Hagen; younger brother, Richard Hagen; children, Karen Ouellette, Kevin Allardice and his wife, Marianne, Andrea "Dice" Allardice, Haeleigh Chin and her husband, Ray, and Sean Allardice; and grandchildren, Ashley, Abby, Brittany, Brady, Annie, Chloe, and Sophia.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, April 10, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m., in the Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in June's memory to the ALS Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301; or to Buckner International, 600 North Pearl St., Suite 2000, Dallas, TX 75201 (accepting donations for Dillon International Adoption Agency).

Family,

Just a message to let you know June recently had given me a tour of her home and we had fun talking about her architecture career and the many projects she was trying to finish up at the house. She expressed a love for all of her family and was considering a move soon to be closer to them. My sympathy to you for your loss she was a vivacious woman who I'm sure will have a lasting memory in your heart. Joyce

Andrea
I am saddened to see that your mother has passed on. Though I did not know her I can say that I was very impressed by her eye for form and function in architectural design. Her many interests must have inspired interesting conversation. My prayers are with you. All the best, Tim Lamb
