Eula Horne Corbin Ingram

HAMPTON - On Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend was called to be with the Lord and His angels. Eula Horne Corbin Ingram, the first daughter and fourth of six children of James and Delzora Horne, was born on July 31, 1926, in Newport News, Va. Eula was educated in the Newport News public school system, graduating as a member of Huntington High School's renowned class of 1944. She then attended St. Paul's College and in 1946 married Jesse F. Corbin. To this union two daughters, Joyce and Velma, were born. In 1995, Eula married James Willis Ingram. Eula's warm and nurturing nature led her to open her arms and home to many others who needed a 'hug' and some mothering. This led her to having a huge loving and supportive extended family throughout her life. Eula was preceded in death by her second husband, James Willis Ingram; her parents, James and Delzora Horne; and her three brothers, James, Johnnie and Theodore Horne. She leaves many memories and loved ones to share them. Among them are her daughters, Joyce Corbin Cunningham of Raleigh, N.C., and Velma Corbin Person and her husband, Karl, of Mitchellville, Md.; her grandchildren, Tamara L. Reed and Samantha D. Reed, both of Bowie, Md., Jeanine Cunningham, Jill Cunningham and Ronald Cunningham of Seattle, Wash.; her sisters, Sennia H. Mack of Philadelphia, Pa., and Delzora H. Newsome of Marana, Ariz.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. A Requiem Mass and Thanksgiving for the Life of Eula H. Corbin Ingram will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, 2515 Marshall Ave., Newport News, Va. Inurnment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, Va. The family will receive friends at St. Augustine's following the inurnment. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Eula's memory to St. Augustine's Episcopal Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
