Edna Conway Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Edna Ruth Conway, of Newport News, passed on to be with her Lord on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at her home at Hidenwood Retirement Community.
She was born in Farmville, N.C., on Nov. 28, 1923, to the late Jim Ruben Joyner and Agnes Ruth Sermons Joyner.
Edna was an avid doll collector and was President of The Busy Bee Doll Club for years. She also used her creativity to make beautiful ceramics. She loved making Christmas ornaments and ceramics, for all her family, that will be cherished for years to come. She was a longtime member of Westhampton Baptist Church in Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Hux Conway; and brothers, James and Harry Joyner.
She is survived by five children, Mitchell Petway and wife, Betty of Cary, N. C., Kathy Hurlburt and husband, Jim of Stuart, Fla., Michael Petway and wife, Patsy of Hampton, Joan Young of Newport News, and Janet Howell of Newport News. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Brown of Annapolis, Md.; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Peninsula Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
