Our prayers are with you all. As my co-worker and mentor for 8 years and a friend for 24, Hjalmar will be missed! I'm glad he got to do so many things he enjoyed while he was with us...It was my honor to have known him.

Kathy, We are so sorry to read in the paper about Hjalmar's passing. We were gone to PA for Larry's dad and mom's graveside service and memorial service for his dad as we had one for his mom shortly after she died a few years ago. They were cremated and wanted to be bury at the same time. His dad died this past Jan. We would have come to the service had we been home. We were very shocked to read of his passing. I am so sorry to learn of your husband's passing. I had just read a comment you made about the upcoming FHS 69 reunion..so this was a shock. The two of you made a great couple and I enjoyed to hear of your dancing adventures. May you find peace and I am praying for your family

Cathy and family, Tom and I were saddened to hear of Hjalmar's passing. Can't begin to count the endless hours we spent on the soccer field with the two of you, or working various school functions. Hjalmar always had the best interests of the children in his heart! He will be greatly missed, but memories of the wonderful man that he was will live on forever.

Hjalmer worked in the same office as me and I always thought about how nice of a man he was. I am so sorry for your loss and pray that your memories give you great comfort and peace. He will truely be missed.

I have known Hjalmar for a long time from the Shipyard and have never known a nicer more kinder man. Always willing to help you no matter what, I ballroom dance myself and saw Hjalmar with his wife while I was out with my wife several times. He was a fine person and will surely be missed. Hjalmar was a great friend & coworker back in the days of the Captain's Chair Communications Console. He was one of the all time greats of shipbuilding! So sorry & shocked to hear of his passing.

Though we were only in Hjalmar's presence on two occasions, pertaining to Allison's and Jason's wedding, we have many good memories of Hjalmar. He was a genuinely nice man, a very kind man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

Dear Cathy and family, I am so very sorry to learn of the death of my earliest friend. I can remember being with him every Saturday night while our parents played cards. We got to stay up late and watch "Gunsmoke", and "The Honeymooners" (to the moon, Alice!"). We spent New Year's Eves together and lit sparklers at midnight. I was so happy for Hjalmer when he married you, Cathy. I remember when we boated together - what fun we had! You will always have your memories to cherish as you walk this new road. I'm sorry I didn't make the effort to get in touch with you and Hjalmar after I moved back from Virginia Beach, I was getting settled in and thought there was plenty of time. I, of all people, should have known better. I hate to have to welcome you to membership of the "Involuntarily Unspoused". It's the club no one wants to join because the prerequisites are so awful.

I have known Hjalmar for many years, both professionally and as a fellow PT Cruiser owner. I have shared many meals with him, appreciating his wondrous sense of humor. He have also shared many "war" stories from shipbuilding. God Bless you old friend, I know he has a diet coke and some barbeque waiting for you.

To Hjalmar's family,
I was shocked to hear of Hjalmar's passing. I had the pleasure of sharing some of his years at the shipyard and knew him as an active member of community soccer, a father in a strong family, and a coworker that was always there when needed. Hjalmar is one of those people I will remember always. Especially his happy, positive personality that seemed to radiate in all he did. My thoughts are with those closest to him that I know will miss him greatly.

You may not know me by name but I am the lady that walks Millie the Cocker spaniel. I cannot tell you how shocked I was to see of Hjalmar John's passing. Iam so sorry. I knew his mother real well and loved her so much Hjalmar was 10yrs younger than me but I remember him as a little boy and his Dad too as my Dad use to ride to the Shipyard with him. My heart goes out to you and your family.
