Odell JONES Obituary
She passed away peacefully in her sleep next to her husband of 64 years, Leonard Jones. She was born in Pittsylvania County, on March 6, 1926. Odell loved time with her family and in her later years enjoyed afternoon rides with her husband and spending time listening to bluegrass musicians. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many.
The legacy of her caring and compassion lives on in her husband, Leonard Jones of Prospect; children, Sandra and husband, Ben Traynham of Hampton, Marie Leggette of Chesterfield County, Patsy and husband, Danny Fox of New Kent, and Leonard Jones Jr. and wife, Delbra of Yorktown; grandchildren Kimberly Leggette-Quigg, Renee Cranor, Connie Leggette, Jennifer Fox, Jeremy Fox, and Jeffrey Harper; six great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Shorter Funeral Home in Farmville and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News. Funeral services will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home at noon Tuesday, Nov. 23, with burial to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

It's so very hard to lose those we love and Aunt Odell is certainly one of those I will always remember, not just as a family member but a wonderful person. Surely she is singing this day with her sisters, brother and other family members that have gone before her. There isn't a time that I travel main street that I don't think of Mrs Jones , my memories of her getting after us kids that stopped. A really nice lady. Mr Jones, Sandra ,Marie, Leonard and Patty you all are in my prayers. . Jack Fuller

To all of the Jones family,
I went to Warwick High School and hung around with Leonard, and went many times to Leonard's home and would visit with his mom. We had great fun and laughs in those days, and we formed a lifelong friendship, that has kept Leonard and I in touch for the past 42 years.
