Shigeko GASKINS Obituary
She was a native of Tokyo, Japan, and had been a resident of Newport News for 33 years. Mrs. Gaskins was a member of Soka Gakkai International (SGI).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Corbin Gaskins.
Survivors include her son, John Arthur Gaskins and wife, Lorri; sisters, Noriko Furuya, Tamiko Otuko, Eiko Kato, and Nobuko Suzuki; brother, Makoto Kobayashi; three grandchildren, Amber Leigh Roberts, Tabitha Renee Richardson, and Kaylee Nicole Brabec; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Leigh Richardson.
The family would like to acknowledge the special love and care given by her daughter-in-law, Lorri, during her illness.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in Peninsula Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Matt Scott.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss but also know she is in a better place where there is no more pain or sorrow. Remember the good memories and know you will see her again one day. The family is in our thoughts and prayers.
