Carrol CARTER Obituary

WEST POINT - Carrol "Bubba" Eugene Carter Sr., 79, of West Point, Va., died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.
He was a 20 year veteran of Army National Guard # 276 Engineer Battalion. Bubba retired from Chesapeake Corporation after 30 years of service on the loading dock. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. His most favorite past time was watching the Washington Redskins play football.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Evelyn Carter; and his six siblings, Earl, Milton, Alex, Henry, Marion and Linda.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Carter; two sons and their wives, Gene and Carol Carter, George and Sharon Carter; two sisters, Ruby Jones and Susan Boughton; a brother, Larry Carter; four grandchildren and their spouses, Carrol and Michelle Carter, Shannon and Chad Williams, Russ and Shawn Carter, Travis and Elizabeth Carter; three stepgrandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Tim LaMar, Holly and Ben Sowinski, Brian Powell; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Laura Kerbin and nurse Tamara Artis and the staff of Peninsula Cancer Institute and Riverside Cancer Infusion Center.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Vincent Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 417 11th Street, West Point, Va. Burial will follow in Sunny Slope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
