Charles BROOKS Obituary

SHACKLEFORDS - Charles Willie Brooks, 92, of Shacklefords, Va., died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010.
His parents, Willie Hundley Brooks and Minnie Langford Brooks and a brother, Winton Lee Brooks preceded him in death.
He retired from Chesapeake Corporation after 30 years of service. Charlie was a long time member of Poroporone Baptist Church. He loved vegetable gardening and spending time with his family.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia Armstrong Brooks; his children, Diane B. Weaver and her husband, Robert of Greeneville, Tenn., Carolyn Brooks of Richmond, Va., C. Wayne Brooks and his wife, Judy of Greenville, N.C., and Robin B. Robins of Richmond, Va.; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Poroporone Baptist Church, 30071 The Trail, Shacklefords, VA. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA.
Memorials may be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, P.O. Box 1130, Gloucester, VA 23061; or West Point Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc., Box X, West Point, VA 23181.
