Chester W. BILSKI

WILLIAMSBURG - Chester Walter Bilski, 61, of Williamsburg passed away on June 1, 2011.
Originally from Poland he was a 28 year resident of his adopted home of Virginia, becoming a US Citizen in 1989. He retired in 2010 from the Engineering Dept of the City of Newport News after 25 years of dedicated service.
He was the eldest son of Jan and Zofia Bilski, who preceded him in death.
World traveled and fluent in several languages, he could carry wonderfully sprawling conversations for hours. Chester enjoyed new experiences and meeting people from diverse backgrounds. He learned English in his teens in order to understand the Rock & Roll song lyrics of the day. A guitar was never far from his reach and he loved to strum at any chance he got.
He believed in family, determination and hard work. He accomplished many of his dreams in life, and always did it on his own terms and in his own way. His sharp intellect, advice, laughter and love will be greatly missed by family and those that knew him best.
He is survived by his wife and companion of 38 years, Bonnie; his son, Bernie; and daughter-in-law, Laurie; and two wonderful grandchildren. Additionally he leaves behind a large extended family and friends all over Europe and truly the world.
Viewing to be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, with a private funeral service to follow in Poland at a later date.
