Beatrice STACEY Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Beatrice Caroline Stacey, 94, died peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2010, at the Riverside Convalescent Home in Hampton.
She was born in Kansas City, Kan., and had been a Newport News resident for 12 years, moving here from Columbia, S.C., to be close to her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Akers of Newport News; son, Harold D. Young and his wife, Sandra, of Columbia, S.C.; three grandsons, Larry Akers, Terry G. Akers, and Jeremy D. Young and his wife, Courtney; one granddaughter, Janet F. (Akers) Asby and her husband, Jimi; two great-grandsons, Kenny Akers and his wife, Shanna, and Phillip Asby; two great-granddaughters, Rebecca A. Cagel and Natalie Asby; five great-great-granddaughters, Alana and Sarah Akers, Haleigh Barrymore, Elana and Sydney Young; and one great-great grandson, Hunter Cagel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Stacey, U.S. Army Retired; her son, Lowell Young; and her son-in-law, J. C. Akers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, in the funeral home with the Rev. George Insley officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff of both the Riverside PACE program and Riverside Convalescent Home for all their great care and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ivy Farms Church of the Brethern, 681 Dresden Drive, Newport News, VA 23601.
