Bettie COATES Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Bettie May Coates, age 74, died June 21, 2010 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
Bettie was born March 29, 1936, in Middlesex County, to the late William and Virginia Cottee. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful seamstress. Bettie devoted much of her time and energy to her family that she loved so much. She brought a light and love to each life she touched and will be missed dearly.
Her parents; husband, John A. Coates; son, John Roger Coates; and brother, William Franklin Cottee preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn C. Hicks and husband, William C., Wanda G. Fletcher and fiancE, William Allison, William Earl Coates and wife, Terry L., Virginia C. Savage and husband, Frederick R., Crystal Keith and husband, Hugh O.; brother, Donnie Cottee and wife, Annette; 12 grandchildren, Cheryl Roby, William A. Hicks, April Fletcher, John R. Fletcher, John Donald Coates, William Michael Coates, Chris Harris,
Tabitha Bristow, Christina Grice, Jessica Keith, Jaclyn Keith
and Brian Keith; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Thomas Bunting, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

WE LOVED GRANDMA BETTIE SO MUCH AND ALWAYS ENJOYED THE TIMES WE SPENT WITH HER. SHE NEVER FAILED TO LET US KNOW HOW MUCH SHE LOVED US AND ALWAYS GAVE THE BEST HUGS AND KISSES. Would like to add my condolences to a very well respected, loved and adored sister, sister in law and aunt (grandma Bettie). You will be never gone in our apperances of memories and love, you may be gone from the earth but never forgotten within our hearts, you were a very special sister, sister in law and aunt to all of us, in deed you were. You may have had host of grandchildren and great grandchildren but we know that within your heart you had a very special nephew William Christopher Cottee and fiance' Tiffany June Harris and son Aiden Christopher Cottee, 2 very special neices Stacy Lynn Cottee and Tracy Michelle Cottee-Sweat, husband Brandon Rogers Sweat and children Kameron Rogers Sweat and Jackson Ray Sweat, and the upcoming birth of a little Girl Faith Annabelle Sweat that you have anxiousally been awaiting for. Know that one day we all will meet in the eyes of god once again. Your brother Donnie Ray Cottee and wife Annette Cottee have shared many generous days of life with you and sharing them with you meant more than the world to them. You will be dearly missed by all of us and we love you so very much!
