Betty HALL Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Betty Bryant Hall, 83, of Newport News, Va., and formerly of Bassett, Va., went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 26, 2010.
She was born in Tazewell County, Va., on Dec. 24, 1926, to the late Charlie G. Bryant Sr. and Pearl Jones Bryant.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Charlie G. Bryant Jr., James Fred Bryant, and Jerry Glenn Bryant; one sister, Marjorie Pfluger; and her son-in-law, William M. Wickert Jr.
Betty will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 62 years, Alfred Lee Hall; and their two children, Charlie Lee Hall and wife, Bonnie of Waverly , Va., and Deborah Hall Wickert of Chesapeake, Va. She has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was an avid reader and published poet. She received her GED at the age of 62 and obtained an Associate's Degree in Christian Education when she was 76.
Besides taking care of her home and huge, beautiful flower gardens, her favorite place to be was in church. She taught Sunday School every Sunday to her "Precious Lambs"6 to 8 year old girls, sang in the choir, helper in Vacation Bible School, served on the Baptismal Committee, and was the spiritual leader in the Faithful Hands Ladies Group each Friday morning. Her love of people and gift of giving was demonstrated through taking women to their doctor's appointments and providing food to the sick, needy, and shut-ins. Betty sent hundreds of cards, letters and phone calls each month to family, friends church members, and missionaries/pastors in the U.S. and around the world.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Tuesday, June 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Collinsville Baptist Church, 1670 Daniels Creek Road, Collinsville, VA 24078. Her life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 2, at 2 p.m., also at Collinsville Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Tracy Freeman. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. A memorial service conducted by Pastors Bill Geouge and David Carroll will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Sharon Baptist Church, 2625 North Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666.
Anyone who ever met Betty knew of her love of Jesus Christ and God, our Heavenly Father. If she could say one last remark to you- it would be, " I'll see you again in glory."
Arrangements are by Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett.
