Betty BOWMAN Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Betty Jean Barber Bowman, 78, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
She was born on April 26, 1931 to William and Lena Barber and was the widow of Oliver L. Bowman Jr., who passed away in 1998.
She was a proud Air Force wife, having been stationed in Alaska, Hawaii, Morocco, and multiple stateside post. Betty was an active member of Newington Baptist Church, past president of WMU and had been involved with Gloucester Job Referral Service.
She is survived by her sons, John (Susanne) of Reston, Va., and Gary (Priscilla of Ruckersville, Va.; grandson, Tressler (Marian) of Standersville, Va.; her sisters and brothers, Louise Correll of Independence, Mo., Flossie Lasley of Red Oak, Iowa, Bill Barber Jr. of Glenwood, Iowa, and Earl Barber of Glenwood, Iowa.; and many nieces and nephews in Virginia, North Carolina, Missouri, and Iowa.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Newington Baptist Church, by the Rev. Michael Gray. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to either Newington Baptist Church Building Fund or to the American Lung Association.

We are sad to hear this news, but happy that Aunt Betty Jean is in heaven with her sister (and our mother) Joyce. It is comforting to know that they are together once again, with Grandma and Grandpa.
