Betty BOYCE Obituary

SMITHFIELD - Betty Lou Flemmig Boyce, 71, of Creekside Dr., passed away on May 20, 2010.
Born in Portsmouth, Va., to the late Joyce Elizabeth Willis and Arthur Lee Flemming Jr. Betty graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1957 and Leigh Memorial School of Nursing in 1962. She worked as a nurse for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed watercolor painting and studied art under local and professional artists.
Betty was the widow of Robert Joel Boyce Jr., and is survived by four children, Elizabeth Lee Moretz and husband, Danny of Smithfield; Teresa Boyce Jones of Virginia Beach; James Michael Boyce and wife, Dena of Chesapeake; and Robert Sheridan Boyce and wife, Jennifer of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Bobby, Caroline, Katie, Andrew, Ryan, Sidney, and Ben; a sister, Carol Flemming Paulk of Chesapeake; and a brother, Dr. John Pierce Flemming IV and wife, Carole of Chesapeake.
She was predeceased by one brother, Charles Willis Flemming.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice or Smithfield Cultural Arts Center.
