Billy Butler Obituary

NASHVILLE, TENN. - Billy Lee Butler Sr., 76, passed away on Oct. 31, 2009.
He was a native of Newport News. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as an electrician after 40 years of service; he also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily and Archibald Butler.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Butler Jr. of Midlothian, Michael Butler of Mobile, Ala., and Jerry Butler of Nashville; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Butler, Lisa Leatherwood and Katie Spence; three great-grandchildren, Logan Leatherwood, Georgia and Josephine Spence; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Peninsula Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Hilling officiating. The family will receive friends afterwards until 8:30 p.m.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Suite A-102, Newport News, VA 23606.
