Brandon MASSEY Obituary
Born in Norfolk, Va., on March 29, 1960, Brandon grew up in Newport News and graduated from Menchville High School in 1978. Brandon was a loving and devoted father, son and brother. He lived his life to the fullest and dearly loved his family. By his willingness to help without regard for himself, Brandon's family and friends knew that his generosity was unlimited.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilson and Rose Heaton, and Juanita Waldrop.
He is survived by his daughters, Rachel Victoria Thruston and her mother, Caressa Knick, and Barbara Marie Morris and her mother, Melanie Whitehead; his parents, Marlin and Barbara Massey of Newport News; brothers, Raymond Massey of Kingston Springs, Tenn., and Steven Massey; and sister, Cathy Mulcahy of Newport News. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins, all in the area. We will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. Jerome Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Majewski. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216. Glenn Allen, VA 23058.

Im in 8th grade now. I hate it. Its a lot of work. I havent been to your grave in awhile. I feel terribel so i am going sometime this week. I am on the page field hockey team. We have won most our games. Only lost 2. I really wish you were here to see how hard i try when i play. Everytime i see my stick i think of you. I miss you so much dad. Its crazy. Its grandmas birthday today, send her a goood day today and tomarow. :) I wish i could talk to you. I had my car inspected at Bobby Polks place yesterday and we sat and talked and lauged how we bet you had talked with the Thomas Jefferson and George Washington and discused policits in Heaven. I know i havent been on here in a long time and i promise i havent forgoten about you. I have just been bussy. Rachel & I went too tennesee to see uncel raymond. It was really nice there. He really misses you. I remeber you saying how we where going to go see him this summer and vist. Brandon, you will truly be missed. I can remember growing up with "The Massey's" across the street. You were always the cool older brother. Words can never express the open void when a loved one leaves. My heart and prayers are with the family and friends. Love you Brandon.

Oh Brandon, I can't begin to express how devastated I am to hear that you are gone. I have been to your house several times in the last month and couldn't find you at home, and finally decided that you must have moved. Jimmy and I were trying to figure out someone who could get us in touch with you. I'm so glad I left a note for you, but heartbroken to hear from your sister that you are gone. We were gone during all of the holidays so didn't know until today, on your birthday! We both adored you and trusted you totally with ALL of our many vehicles. You were a treasure and we will miss you terribly. It was rare to have a friend so honest and also so much fun to be around. We will miss you so very much, but are comforted in the knowledge that God will take care of you.

Man we had soo many good times toghter! I rember i wanted a hamster and we were on our way to bush gardens, you said no, i through a FIT & opended my bottle of water while we were driving and poored it ALL over you! You had like 20 water bottles in the car and on our way there you and me where back and fourth throwing water! We were SOAKED when we got there(: I really never saw you sad. You were always happy! You always told me how much you love me and rachel and how much we ment too you. You were the best dad in life, and amazing person. You told me how much you still loved mom. I still dont know why yall devorsed but i guess it was ment too be that way? You will NEVER be replaced by anyone, NOONE will ever EVER replace you. You are the orange in the group of apples(: God told you it was time too come home becuase, in your future wouldnt be good. I just wish i could of said bye. I rember on December 26 at like 8 you and mom were talking on the phone you told her too tell me you love me and too give me a kiss from him. WHY didnt i just talk too you on the phone? ): I dont know. But i am gonna miss you more than i will ever miss anything. You only got too live half your life thats not fair, you nver told me all those famous stories of yours. Dad you were always working to make people happy. You were and AMAZING car mann! Brandon you were so loved by everyone but especially your girls. You have always been a super hero to Barbara. Whenever she had a problem, you knew just what to say or do to make it better. I think it was that way for a lot of people including me. You are missed so very much. Barbara visits you every few days, just her way of keeping you close. Thank you for being the man that you were. Our son (Matt Keafer) played baseball with your son and Mike was their coach. We figured out that you were Brandon's sister whom I went to high school with. Brandon was a sweet guy. I grew up on Malden Lane with the Massey family. Brandon and I spent many a summer evening sitting on my front porch watching fireflies and talking about the future. He was always kind and friendly. Brandon, I do not have one childhood memory without you in it. From fighting when we were 10. You riding me all over Denbigh in your bikes newspaper basket. To driving me to school. Always going down to the docks to get me a drink and a snack. He was an inspiration to me and taught me more about real life then anyone i have ever met.I met Brandon as a transmission builder where we worked in the same shop together, I quickly found out there was more to him then just working on cars. Brandon exhibited a truly inspired mechanical ability and a wonderful personality that enhanced a personal relationship with all he interacted with. We thank God for the blessing to have known this wonderful person. God give grace and comfort to the family left behind. Praise is in heaven now as Brandon is graced in heavens presence.

I loved spending time with Brandon. His quick wit and uncanny sense of humor was priceless and irreplaceable.
