Carmelo LIGGIERI Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Carmelo Liggieri, 83, died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at his home.
A native of Francofonte, Italy, he lived in New York from 1972 to 1989 and worked as an upholsterer for Empire State Chair Co. In 1989, he retired after 17 years of service. He had been a Peninsula resident for the past 20 years, where he attended St. Jerome Catholic Church. He loved playing cards, riding his bike and dancing.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Lina Liggieri; his three sons, Sebastiano Liggieri of Newport News, Robert Liggieri of Newport News, and Mario Liggieri of Rock Tavern, N.Y.; his two daughters,
Concetta Weiss of Nokesville, and Maria Liggieri of Newport News; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Grandpa I miss you so much!!!! I couldn't have asked for a better grandfather. You will always be remembered and Ja'kai will soon know everything about his great-grandfather. I love you so much. Watch over us all and we will be reunited in due time. You're in my heart always Nono
