Catherine CONNER Obituary

HAMPTON - Catherine Puryear Conner, 90, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 28, 2010.
She was a native of South Boston, Va., and a 51 year resident of Newport News. She was a member of Westhampton Baptist Church for more than 50 years and attended regularly until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. Conner; two brothers, three sisters; one granddaughter; and parents, Robert and Robbie Puryear.
Catherine was a wonderful mother and leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Fannie Mae Dixon and her husband, John, David R. Conner and his wife, Sandra and E. Leroy Conner and his wife, Judy; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
She dearly loved her family and was loved by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the members of Hospice, Valerie, Julia, Lois, Reba and the Nurses Aids for all of their love and compassion and the Hope-In-Home Care staff, especially Janie Wingate, who was so good to her and the family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton. A celebration of Catherine's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday morning, July 2, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Coffey of Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
