Charles Mitchell Obituary
He was retired from the Hampton City Fire Department after 17 years of service as a medic/firefighter. Chuck was a member of Newington Baptist Church. He cared deeply about people as exhibited by his ability to help others. Chuck was generous and kind to his family and friends. He was a lover of books, food, music and animals, especially his dog, Brandy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Mitchell; devoted daughter, Jessica Mitchell; mother, Gloria Bishop and husband, Arthur; father, Charles Mitchell Jr. and wife, Anne; three sisters, Kathy Dewitt and husband, Warren, Jamie Mitchell and Ginny Handy and husband, Jennings; brother, John Mitchell and wife, Terry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Michael R. Gray, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Newington Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
In Chuck's memory, contributions may be given to Newington Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 847, Gloucester, VA 23061.

Dear Pat,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband Chuck. I just read about it in the Gazette today, a little to late or I would have been there. He was a very special man and I know that he will be missed. The two of you were very special to me during my high school years in Young Life. I wish that I would have shared that sooner. I loved you very much and have such awesome memories singing and praising the Lord with you. May God bless you and your daughter during this time. Much love.

My dearest brother,
To day as every day sence you left,I woke up and the clock was still ticking, the sun came up and every day life moves on.But for me my heart full of sadness. im so sad to think i'll never see his sweet smile or here his laughter.Chuck was a man of many talents, he loved the fire dept,and the many friends / co workers. He worked hard to build his lawn care business as he did. He loved his family.

I have many wonderful memories of Chuck...especially over at Grandma Mitchell's. He always lightened things up over there and made me smile.

Chuck was a customer of mine and quite a personality. I'm going to miss him coming in for his Dixie Chopper parts. Our thoughts and prayers go to Chuck and his family.

Pat,
We have never met but I new chuck before he enter the fire department and than we work in the fire department together. I was alway on a different shift. I used to stop and talk to him when he cut the grass at Walter Reed Birth place to catch up on what he been doing. I was shock to learn about his death. I will miss the time we spent at Walter Reed. Having just lost my wife I understand what you are going through and I pray that God bring you through this.
