Charles Reed Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Charles Reed, 89, departed this life on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at his home in Roanes.
He was a native of Gloucester and a member of the Rising Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Corbin-Reed; a stepdaughter, Lanita Knight (Lloyd) of Gloucester; a stepson, Alfred Corbin Jr. (Tilya) of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Walter Gilbert Reed of Boston, Mass.; two step-granddaughters, Shayla Knight of Gloucester, and Jasmine Wiggins of Rocky Mount, N.C.; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Thornton of Gloucester; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Thornton of Hephzibach, Ga., and Edward Thornton of The Woodlands, Texas; a dedicated nephew, Ledon Thornton of Richmond; a devoted caregiver, Eunice Burse Jackson; and numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
The body will be placed in Rising Valley Baptist Church at noon on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009. Public viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Darry O. Echols officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
