Clifford Holbrook Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Clifford A. Holbrook, 91, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009. He was a native of Ashland, Ky., and a longtime resident of Newport News.
Cliff worked as an electrician for C&O Railroad for more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Navy, as an electrician, and was a WW II veteran. He was a member of Northside Christian Church, was active in the local Moose Lodge, VFW and a lifelong member of the IBEW.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis A. Holbrook.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Holbrook; brother, Clyde Holbrook; grandchildren, Jason and Lea Holbrook, Melissa and Steve Adair; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Sydney Holbrook; niece, Shirley Holbrook; nephew, Clyde Holbrook; and many other family members throughout the country.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today, Nov. 12, at Peninsula Funeral Home; with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m., with Larry Jones, Minister, officiating and interment will follow at 3 p.m., in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Dennis, sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I have many fond memories of working with him at the railroad for many years. Can still see him getting in that little mustang every afternoon to go home. He is up there with all his railroad buddies now having a big reunion and is in a better place.
