Corky Cox Obituary

HAMPTON - Corky Cox, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, June 11, 2010.
A native of Bluefield, W.Va., she was a Hampton resident since 1962 and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Corky was the owner of Corky's Maid and Janitorial Service for over 20 years. Along with her husband, "Red", she played music professionally for many years with local bands.
Preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Denise Harker, survivors include her husband, Wesley E. "Red" Cox; two sons, Wesley B. Cox and his wife, Daisy of Florida and Joseph L. "Larry" Cox and his wife, Reyna of Hawaii; six grandchildren, Eric Tarwater, Tala and Tiffany Cox, and Brelan, Dylan, and Zachary Cox; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Wyatt Ratliff; and three sisters, Sue Akers and Dottie Penniger, both of Arizona and Marjorie Reed of Virginia.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, in Hampton Memorial Gardens by Pastor Samuel E. Hyde.
Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 445 Shelton Road, Hampton, VA 23663.

Words can not even begin to exspress how we feel in the loss of Corky. She has seen us through many trials and tribulations in our lives. She touched our hearts in a way that many people long for.
