Dianna MOSER Obituary

HAMPTON - Dianna M. (Mickie) Moser departed this life on Dec. 13, 2009, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Mickie was born in Harrisonburg, Va., the eldest daughter of the late John Paul and Neva (Alexander) Michael, and grew up in Waynesboro, Va.
She graduated from William and Mary in 1972 and worked as a medical transcriptionist, both for area hospitals and as her own business.
Mickie was a longtime member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Hampton, where she served as the parish musician, choir member, hand bell director, Vestry member, and Senior Warden. She also served and worshipped at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Poquoson and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newport News. Mickie was a board member of Empower Hampton Roads and the Artillery Order of Molly Pitcher.
Mickie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gene; their two children, Paul, and his wife, Theresa, of Newport News; and Sarah Williams of Hampton; and her sisters, Sallie Lee of Bessemer, Ala., and Jeannie Michael of Hampton. She adored her four grandchildren, Hannah, Nicolas, and Noah Moser, and Brady Williams.
In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial to the St. Mark's Outreach Fund.
St. Mark's will have a Memorial Service of the Resurrection at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, followed by a reception in the parish hall.

Dear Gene and family,
Mike and I send our sincerest sympathy to you at Mickie's passing. We have known her for 22 years. I could not have asked for a better EFM co-mentor. Mickie put all of her heart and soul into EFM, just as she did with all of her endeavors. She was one of the most self-less people I have ever known. I believe her work with the homeless was closest to her heart, second only to her devotion to her family. I miss her terribly, and can't bear to think of St. Mark's without her there. I am so sorry I was not well enough to visit with her before she left us. I have asked her to save me a place next to her in God's choir! I know she qualifies, I only hope I will! Thanks for the wonderful celebration of her life at St. Mark's. Peace to you, Gene.

Gene and family,
What a beautiful ceremony honoring Mickie at St. Mark's. Yes, Mickie would have been embarrassed for sure, for she definitely was not one to accept praise easily no matter how deserving the praise might be. She lived her life exactly as she wished, managing it down to the last details, never expecting rewards other than personal satisfaction for making life's path easier for family, friends, and those who only crossed paths by chance. She would have loved all the wonderful cooking that made its way to the social hall and would have taken great pleasure in watching others enjoy it. The world will miss Mickie, but not as much as her family. May all the delightful memories of such a special person sustain you through the days and weeks ahead. We are thinking of you.
