Dorothy MOORE Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Dorothy Elizabeth Moore, 90, left this life peacefully, Dec. 10, 2009.
She was born July 17 in Cliffside, N.C., to Asia and Cecil Dolly Moore, the youngest of four.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ezmer, James and Louise; her husband, Duval; and grandson, Russell.
She was known to her many friends as Dot. She had a love for cooking, was a great seamstress, enjoyed arts and crafts and instilled a fondness for gardening in her grandchildren. She took pleasure in traveling and got a kick out of all things Disney. She treasured her dogs through the years; she savored a cold glass of milk but detested the family cow when she was a girl.
She will live on in the cherished memories of her family, which include her son, Paul and his children and their families through stories and photos, and who now find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain.
The family wishes to thank her many caregivers over the course of her illness.
A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Flowers are appreciated, but memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

I remember Aunt Dorothy as being so full of laughter. I also remember her with Uncle Duvall. I know they are back together again and she and grandmama (Louise) are back to their loving?? bickering. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. God bless.

Dot was a very fun and caring friend to everyone, especially my "Mom" Erna Wilkerson of the Great Oaks Community in Newport News, VA.
While at Great Oaks, I enjoyed seeing Dot at the community "Bingo Games".
To Dot's family, "Our sympathy and warmest thoughts are with you now."
