Edith PIERCE Obituary
She was born Feb. 7, 1921, to the late Bessie and Isaiah Hamlin in Dendron, Va. She attended the Surry Public Schools.
She married the love of her life, Richard Lee Pierce on May 28, 1938, who preceded her in death. Out of their union came four sons, Lawrence Thomas (deceased), Arthur Lee (deceased), James Henry (deceased), and John Alven.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, John Alven Pierce of Dendron, Va.; two daughters-in-law, Yvonne Pierce of Dendron, and Hazel Pierce of Brentwood, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Diane Lane, LeAnn (Eugene) White, Renita Pierce, Ondrea (Yusef) Barr, Monique James, Moinica (Wayne) Myers and LaShawn(Conrad) Givers; 21 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 27, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Dendron, Va., with the Rev. Michael L. Thomas Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Pierce Cemetery on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway (Route 40). Viewing and visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight, at the Church.

To the Pierce Family. What a beautiful and wonderful person God allowed to be a part of your life and many others. Chalinda and I have such wonderful sweet memories to hold onto. Mr. & Mrs. Pierce were one of Chalinda's 1st "Godparents" at First Baptist Church when she was born 21 yrs ago. We loved them and thank God for the times we shared. May God's peace, comfort and love encompass you.
