Edward COCKRELL Obituary

HAMPTON - Edward R. Cockrell Jr. of Hampton was called home to be with his heavenly Father on May 8, 2010, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Heaven will be a happier place due to his presence. Ed was a loving husband, father and a dedicated tractor trailer driver for Gwaltney of Smithfield.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne; his mother, Anne Evans of West Virginia; two sisters, Marsha and husband, John Wright of Idaho, and Bonnie and husband, Bill Denney of Hampton; three daughters, Angela and husband, Calvin Hale of Illinois, Crissy and husband, Richard Zehr of West Virginia, Tammy Cockrell of California; three sons, Terry Rhodes of Oakwood, Va., David Rhodes and wife, Christine of West Virginia, Edward Cockrell and wife, Kelly of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service is planned, on his birthday, May 29, at Lacrosse Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1518 N. Mallory St., Hampton, VA, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Julie U. Thro officiating.
The family wish to thank Virginia Oncology, especially Dr. John Kessler, Kathy Pearson and Heartland Hospice. You were truly God's angels.
