MATHEWS - Elizabeth Ann Murray Richardson, age 82, passed away in her home on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010.
In keeping with Betty Ann's Scottish ancestry and her own precepts, her obituary is short and to the point. To those who knew her, her life spoke for itself.
A lifelong resident of Mathews County, Betty Ann was born at Williams Wharf, Va., where her ancestors established a thriving community and culture which she, in turn, spent a lifetime preserving. She attended Madison College, now known as James Madison University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Richardson Sr.; her parents, Benjamin and Lola Thompson Murray; and sister, Lola Murray Clements.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Richardson Rinehardt (Richard) of Richmond, Va.; sons, Charles H. 'Sonny' Richardson Jr. (Connie) of Mathews, Va., and William Benjamin Richardson and friend, Tara of Mathews; grandchildren, Laura Waite, Matthew Richardson, Elizabeth Williams, William Rinehardt, Benjamin Rinehardt, Rachel Rinehardt; great-granddaughters, Charlotte Constance Waite, Sarah Ellis Williams; nephews, Murray and Russell Clements.
Betty Ann, the ever-insightful lifelong traveler, journeys still.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Christ Church Kingston Parish Cemetery.
