Elsie COLLIE Obituary

HAMPTON - Elsie West Collie, 95, a lifelong resident of Hampton, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, after a short illness.
She was a member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church. Mrs. Collie worked as a secretary at Fort Monroe 17 years until she retired. A former leader of a Brownie Scout Troop, she was also a published poet with the International Library of Poetry.
Survivors include her husband, Robert D. Collie; a daughter, Carolyn H. Klock of Hampton; a sister, Ruth W. Mathieson of Danville; one granddaughter, Robin Fitzpatrick; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Wyatt, Emmett and Erica.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne C. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
Memorials may be in the form of contributions to Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 501 Beach Road, Hampton, 23664.
