Elwood BRYDGE Obituary

STUARTS DRAFT - Elwood Lee Brydge, 78, of Stuarts Draft, Va., passed away Thursday morning, July 15, 2010, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Va.
Mr. Brydge was born on Aug. 17, 1931, to Oscar and Emma Coffey Brydge in Augusta County, Va. As a young man, Elwood relocated to Williamsburg, Va., for 1W service where he worked at Eastern State Hospital. There he met and married Margaret (Peggy) Brunk on May 31, 1957. After he completed his 1W service term he continued to work at Eastern State Hospital for the next 30 years as a Charge Attendant. Several years after retirement, he moved to Stuarts Draft, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; and brothers, Emory and David.
He is survived by a son, Steve Brydge and his wife, Rebecca; grandsons, Justin, Matthew and Aaron Brydge; and a granddaughter, Rachael CedeNo and her husband, Wallace, all of Harrisonburg, Va. In addition he is survived by two sisters-in-law, Nina Brydge and Jean Brydge, both of Stuarts Draft, Va.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville, Va., where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. in the Chapel, conducted by Pastor Duane Yoder and Pastor Bud Brydge. Interment will follow at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Va.

Mr. Brydge was my charge aide in Bldg. 33 at Eastern State. He was a pleasure to work with and for.
