Emily Swain Obituary

WEST COLUMBIA, SC - Emily Gayle Swain, 89, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Lexington Medical Center. Her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert, was at her side.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Laurel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emily's favorite charity, the Oliver Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 7791, Columbia, SC 29202 or the Salvation Army, 2025 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
Emily was born Sept. 10, 1920, in the Hilton Village, Va., and was the daughter of Dorothy W. and Young K. Gayle. She was a longtime member of Long Hill Baptist Church in Trumbull, Conn., and subsequently of Laurel Baptist Church in West Columbia.
Emily is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Gayle (Ed) Zimmerman of Melbourne, Fla., and Dorothy (Shane) Noel of Caryville, Tenn.; son, Robert L. (Christine) Swain of Acworth, N.H.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
