Ercil CASEY Obituary

RICHMOND - Ercil Howard Casey passed away at her home in Richmond, Va., on Dec. 24, 2010.
Mrs. Casey, a longtime resident of Richmond, was involved in many organizations including: Reveille United Methodist Church (where she served in numerous lay leadership positions), Thomas Jefferson Garden Club, The Woman's Club, the Tuckahoe Woman's Club, Wilton House, Society of Colonial Dames of America, and the Richmond Symphony's Woman's Committee. She was also former president of United Methodist Women of Reveille and Children's Theater of Richmond.
Mrs. Casey was born May 29, 1938, near Marysville, Ohio. She spent her childhood at her family home, "Indian Field Farm," on the outskirts of Milford Center, Ohio. She attended Marysville High School, Asbury College, and Ohio Wesleyan University.
Mrs. Casey was preceded in death by her mother and father, Catherine Southard Howard and Cone Hathaway Howard Jr.; and brothers, Edward Southard Howard and Nathan Southard Howard.
Mrs. Casey is survived by her husband of 48 years, Calvin Lewis Casey; her son, Lewis Coleman Casey of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter, Catherine Casey Nottingham; son-in-law, Charles Denmead Nottingham; grandsons, Garner Lewis Nottingham and Charles Southard Nottingham, all of Washington, D.C.; her sister, Carolyn Howard Schaefer of Toledo, Ohio; her brother, Nicholas Hathaway Howard of Milford Center, Ohio; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 28, 2010, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to United Methodist Women of Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond, VA 23221.

How sad I was to receive the news of Ercil's passing. She was always a lovely, gentle and kind lady. My sympathy to Lewis, their daughter, son and grandsons. She will be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
