Ernest MILLEN Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Ernest 'Ernie' William Millen (changed from Miller in 1972), 87, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Columbus Memorial Hospital in Mississippi.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was a veteran of the United States Navy, employed by NASA's Nuclear Research department for 32 years and was the owner/president of Chancelwyn Research and Almega Universal. Ernie was a dynamic being and strongly followed his faith. Blessed with the gift of gab and the smarts of a rocket scientist, he was always quick to share a story or write one. In addition to spending time with his friends and family, Ernie enjoyed fishing and playing the violin.
Ernie was preceded by his parents, Henry and Marie Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theolene 'Tillie' Ussery Millen; his sister, Elfrieda Stueckler; his five children, Marian McConnell and husband, Dan of Roanoke, Va., Lori Goodbody of Pocomoke, Md., Tina Hicks of Seaford, Va., Tim Millen of Newport News, Va., and Mark Millen and wife, Dilcia of Columbus, Miss.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be having a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Yorktown, Va.

Tillie and family, I will always remember Ernie as my fishing buddy. He would bait my hook and take the fish off. He always encouraged me to be paitient while waiting for the fish to bite. He was always a gentlleman with a great sense of humor. I am sure he is in heaven getting St. Peter to fix the gate and is working on lots of projects! He will be greatly missed.
