Ernest OVERBY Obituary
He was a native of Scottsburg, Va., and resident of the Peninsula for more than 60 years. Mr. Overby served honorably in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 21 years of service. He was a member of Orcutt Baptist Church for 31 years.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elva Marie Overby; his last wife, Doris W. Overby; and his son, Ernest L. Overby.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Stevens and husband, Darrel, Peggy Bruss and husband, Dennis, and Deborah Politis and husband, Jimmy; his sons, Jerry Overby and wife, Mary Jane, Roger Overby, and Kevin Overby and wife, Janene; his stepdaughter, Sheri Stainback and husband, Donald; his stepson, Sonny Hudson and wife, Connie; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Ernest's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

Words cannot express what a wonderful Daddy we had. He worked hard all of his life because of the love he had for his family. His deeds spoke louder than any words.
I heard someone say to him how pretty their child was and he said "all of my children are beautiful."
No amount of time will replace the hole he left in our hearts. We love and miss you Daddy.

Grandpa Overby was such a kind person. He was always so warm and welcoming to me and my family. Our hearts and thoughts are with the Overby family during this hard time. We love you and are praying for you all.

Barbara and family: I am so sorry about your dad. I have such fond memories of him bringing the family up to the country when we were children. Grandpa, no words can express exactly how I am feeling tonight and ever since you passed away.
