Essie Dais Obituary
She was born on Jan. 27, 1925, in Avon Park, Fla., to the late Fannie Haynes Brown and Jolly Lee Brown.
Essie Mae Dais was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dais; brothers, Joe, Jolly Jr. and Willie Brown; and one sister, Mary Ellis.
She leaves to cherish her loving daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie and John Smith; brother, Robert (Ernestine) Brown; grandchildren, Michael (Billie Jo) Brown and Ericka Brown; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. A Homegoing celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Bethel AME Church, 94 Lincoln Street, Hampton with the Rev. Andre P. Jefferson, officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, New York. Family and friends will assemble at Bethel AME church by 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bethel AME Church Building Fund.

I was saddened to hear of the death of your mother - "Miss Essie". She was such a lady and always fun to be around. I haven't seen her in several years, but always remember her kindness and sense of humor.
