Faith SCHNAUTZ Obituary

ROSEBURG, ORE. - Faith Eckles Schnautz of Roseburg, Ore., passed away on June 11, 2010.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Schnautz; two sons, Erik and John; and one grandson.
Faith was born in Batesville, Miss., on Dec. 10, 1943, to the late Woodrow Wilson Eckles and Edith Collins Eckles. She grew up in Memphis, Tenn., and graduated from Messick High School. She and Bill were married June 11, 1962. The U.S. Navy sent the young couple to Jacksonville, Fla., Lincoln, Neb., then to San Diego, Calif., where their sons were born. In 1976 the family moved to Hampton, Va., where they lived until 2000.
Faith was an artist and homemaker. She was a fantastic cook, an avid baker and cake decorator. Her beautiful and delicious creations were a delight to the eyes and the palate. She was a talented painter and was possessed of a beautiful singing voice. She had an absolute and abiding love for all types of animals, especially water birds.
Faith was a dear friend, steadfast wife and devoted mother. The family is grateful to those who have shared their reminiscences of wonderful times with her. The day of her passing marked her 48th wedding anniversary; her husband and her sons were at her side.
Despite recent poor health, she continued to touch the lives of those close to her. She was blessed with a dear caregiver, Melissa Gerharter.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Roseburg at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10. Taylor's Family Mortuary of Winston, Ore., is assisting with final arrangements. Her remains will be interred at the Peach Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in her native Mississippi.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support and is relieved that their wife and mother is whole once again and reunited with God.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Audubon Society or the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Bill and family, Bo and I are so sorry to hear of Faith's passing. It has been a long time since we have been in contact - our Eisenhower days. I have fond memories of working with Faith for the commissioning. And I discovered what a great baker she was.
We are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Bill and family, Dan and I were so sorry to read about Faith's passing.
Our thoughts are with you all.
We sold the Sarfan house in 2008; however, thank you so much for the wonderful handicapped bath you installed for Faith. We didn't think much about it when we bought the house from you and Faith in 2000; however, both our mothers lived with us and that bathroom was invaluable.

I don't know if that provides any comfort; but thanks to Faith, our mothers were much more comfortable the last years of their lives because of it.
