Forrest JONES Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Forrest H. 'Woody' Jones, 81, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010.
Woody was a deacon and longtime member of West Hampton Baptist Church and Hampton Roads Baptist Church. He lived life to the fullest and loved his Lord, his family, and baseball! His life was a daily celebration of the joys of family, friendship, and faith. We were touched by his extraordinary spirit and will be inspired by his memory forever.
Woody is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith Jones; daughter, Sharon Warren and husband, Jerry; son, Danny Jones; daughter, Teresa Garcia and husband, Doug; daughter, Lisa Ryder and husband, Don; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, and Alyson Warren and Ryan and Jessica Garcia; brother, Robert Jones of Norfolk; sisters, Polly Howell of Shelby, N.C., and Michelle Blanton of Harris, N.C.; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home. A celebration of Woody's life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hampton Roads Baptist Church.

Dear Edith and family,
Gilmer and I are so sorry about your loss, but our loss is heaven's gain! I will always remember the last time Woody sang in the choir with us, he sang his favorite song, "I Know" and the choir joined him on the chorus. He was a very dear friend to us just in the short time we have known y'all. You are still a very dear friend and I just want you to know that we are remembering you and the family in our prayers.
Love in Christ,
Gilmer and Delores McKinney
