Dear Joyce and family,
Hope you are doing well...my Mom is still alive (89) and in the same house. Over the years I have thought about you remembering the fun and friendship we shared, your Mom was always very nice to me. Do you still live nearby? Please forward my condolences to the family and may your Mom rest in peace.

For almost fifty years, Genelle has been our neighbor and friend. We raised our children together and watched them grow into the fine and upstanding adults they are now with children and grandchilren of their own. Neighbors have come and gone, but we always knew Genelle was, like us, happy in her home that held so many memories. Working in "her yard" most assuredly made her the happiest. Lowly weeds were made to feel like gorgeous orchid under her care. We know all the future sick plants at the local store nurseries will miss her rescuing them and restoring them to their original beauty. Pure magic she performed on those plants, trees, and flowers.
Memories and the good times we shared together are more numerous than the stars in the sky. We will miss Genelle, as will you, but the lessons in perseverance, character, commitment, and love of family will live on in all that were fortunate enough to call her Mother, Grandmother, or friend.
Would also like to mention briefly that no one will ever know how far her charity reached to those in need.
Genelle knew a "bargain" when one was to be had, and she never passed one up. (She also was well aware of a "rip-off"). Therefore, many needy school children had school supplies and hungry people had food. Anyone in need could count on her to help with essentials because she would always purchase them "when she ran across them and the price was right".
We extend to the family our most heartfelt sympathy, but we know our friend, Genelle, has a special place in heaven most assuredly some Heavenly Earth to care for her beloved plants.

Grandma Carter,
You are one of the chosen few angels God decides to share with the world. Your generous heart, wisidom, and concern for others were gifts given to us by example. You added beauty to the world through your actions and though not delicate in verse, having had a place to reside in the truth will always be a comfort.
I will cherish forever the moments we spent sharing stories and talking of the world. Your wit and wisdom always bringing a smile to my face or a thought to my head. Without fail, my eyes were always blessed by the sight of you and your flowers, only those with roots.I value every lesson learned, even if hard, and will carry many things you have passed on throughout life.
I love you.
