Genevieve L. ENGEL

WILLIAMSBURG - Genevieve Lois Williamson Engel, 82, passed away on Oct. 13, 2010, at her home in Williamsburg, Va. She left this world in peace while surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born in Neptune, N.J., on Nov. 27, 1927, she has been a Williamsburg resident since 1962.
With strong character, a good soul, and a heart of gold, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered for her giving nature and willingness to help anyone who was in need. Happiest when surrounded by the people she loved, she took the most pleasure out of family get-togethers, holidays, and her love of children and animals. Now, the Lord has granted her peace and has gained a new angel in Heaven.
Mrs. Engel is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Clarence Norman Engel Jr.; her eldest daughter, Christina Engel Gallagher and husband, Kevin; her youngest daughter, Luann Engel Gunnell; her nephew, Jimmy Wilby; her three grandchildren, Jen and Manda Gallagher and James Gunnell; and her brother, Edward Thorne and his wife, Tootie.
The family would like to give special thanks for the love and care given to her by Dr. April Guminsky and the nurses at Riverside Hospice, especially Jessica Hunter, RN. Also special thanks to Sharon Haislip, who brought joy and laughter to her life in the final weeks of her life.
A visitation will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2010, and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2010, at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
