Mr. King was a really nice person. I stopped in to see him this summer and we talked and of course he loaded me up with tomatoes just before I departed. His dog was there with him, close at hand and that was how it always was with him. He was my neighbor some years ago, and he shared vegetables and stories back then, and always had a big dog to keep him company. I remember often he would take off in his camper to go camping and he just enjoyed life. He even planted flowers too, and he may have had some help from his daughter but he was a good neighbor and just an all around good person. He will be so missed.

My dear sister Vanessa , Bruce, Michael, Jamie and Katie,
Now the work is left to you, the living, to carry forth the beauty and joy of that life which has been taken from you. Where you weep, Mr. King would have you laugh . Where you mourn, he would have you rejoice. But we know he will forgive you your grief, for to grieve is to love, to love is to cherish, and to cherish is to give praise and thanksgiving for the life which has blessed each of you in unique and profound ways.
To that life I pray for courage and strength for you , that your frailty be forgiven, your sorrows redeemed, the wounds of your loss healed, in the sure knowledge that life moves forward and does not tarry with yesterday and that the life before you beckons you to greater glory as the only memorial that is fitting and just. Amen
Let us honor the life of your dad, father in law and grandfather and grandfather in law by living ourselves, more nobly and lovingly in the days ahead. As you return to the routines of your lives, go in great peace and remember that he is with you still.
Mr. King’s Christmas came early this year and he will never receive another gift like the one he received this week.. New birth into the kingdom of God.
Truly, we can say with Paul, I think, "O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?"
With our love and sympathy,
Your brother Rev. Carl Matthews, Larry, Carlos and Alicia

Blessed Assurance
Perfect submission, perfect delight! Vision of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending bring from above. Echoes of mercy, whisper of love. You may not have had wings, But you were always there.
You may not have had a halo but you surrounded us with your loving care.
If there were Angels on earth for the thoughtful things people do, I am sure as heaven above that one of them were you.
Jesus knows that you were one of the best.
Keep on Berlkey it is time for you to take your rest.
To the best Santa ever, Our thoughts are with you Lori and Ricky and Jeremy
Love you Jewel , Aaron and Akira

Mr King was a great neighbor and always positive about everything. I recall Hurricane Isabel when both of us lost power for 11 long days. He would ask me, "Did you have your coffee yet?" And he let me cook scrambled eggs on his little camper stove. I recall when he and his son-in-law cut down all the trees and shrubs between his yard and 306, he said, "I haven't seen down that side of the street in over 20 years!" He was a delightful man. If I smelled the pipe tobacco, I knew he was closeby. I loved having him as my neighbor. If anyone said our homes were too small, he always said: "I raised 5 kids in that house." His children loved him very much and he knew that. He always talked about his kids. They knew the sacrifices he had made for them. Everyone does not have a good daddy, but Mr King was a great father. Anyone can see that by looking at the fine children he raised by himself. He has moved on to a better place now. God bless the family.

Dad,
You just dont know how hard it has been on all of us but we all know it was time for you to go. The Lord has better plans for you, who knows you just might be camping, or fishing or even planting a garden, whatever you are doing, you are doing it your best like always. My brothers and Myself plus are family's didnt get to really tell you goodbye or that we love you before you had to go but you always knew. We will always have special memories of you, and you will always be in our hearts and thoughts. We will always do what you have told us to do , and that is do our best at whatever we do. We could not have asked for a better father. You were the BEST. Like Vanessa said today when we were sitting around talking about spouses, you always considered them as your own and no different, thats just the man you were.
We Love you and miss you very much. We know we have a gaurdian angel on our side and we would'nt wont it any other way.
Your Daughter,
Lori

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you for a little while,Please do not grieve ans she wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years,But start our bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and in my name live on and do all things the same, Feed not your loneliness on empty days But fill each waking hour in useful ways, Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you in the sky !
Lori, we are so sorry for the loss of your Father, he was a very nice man and will be missed by many ! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers..The Brandt Family

Bruce, I am thankful for the few times I had the honor of meeting your father. Losing a parent is a very hard thing to do and my heart goes out to you and your family! Knowing he is with our Savior now is wonderful and it lessens the pain of separation. But knowing you will see him again one day is heart warming because there will be no more separation. Teresa and I love you and we wish you the very best. You have a wonderful family to help you through this time. I find it an honor to be a small part of it!! God bless you and may the Holy Spirit bless you in every way.
