George SHEFFIELD Obituary

SUSSEX - George Sheffield, 79, of Sussex County died Dec. 25, 2009, at his home after a short illness.
The son of the late Otis and Gracie Sheffield, George is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Grace Peffer Sheffield; four children and their spouses, Tony and Doris Sheffield, Clarence and Tammy Sheffield, Sammy Sheffield of West Virginia and Mary and Edward Harless of Disputanta; two brothers, Jamie Sheffield and Arthur Sheffield; and two sisters, Audrey Morris and Marie Jones. Blessed also with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many special friends, including his brothers-in-law, Joseph Peffer and Kevin Reynolds.
Mr. Sheffield was also predeceased by his son, Roy W. Sheffield; and two brothers, Cleveland and Richard Sheffield.
George was a loving husband, devoted friend and proud father and grandfather. All who know him and love him will sorely miss him.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, in the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with interment to follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave, Richmond, VA 23226.
