George HUMPHREY Obituary
He is survived by his parents, Regina and James "Burke" Humphrey of Varina; two sisters, Christina and Phyllis Humphrey; two brothers, Jim Humphrey and his wife, Angel, and Nelson Humphrey; his grandparents, Phyllis and Reginald Nelson, and June and Willard Gilley; two nephews, Andrew and Matthew Humphrey; three aunts, Phyllis Schmick and her husband, Jonathan, Sara Nelson, Kathryn Carroll; one uncle, Reginald "Bill" Nelson and his wife, Lynnette, and six cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James G. Humphrey.
Bill was a salutatorian of the Henrico High School Class of 2003, where he earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Tech, with a Bachelor of Science degree, in 2006 and was enrolled in his final semester at the Veterinary School.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S Laburnum Ave, on Monday, Dec. 28. Funeral services will be held at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

I am employed in Communications at the Vet School & Bill would come in to let us know he was taking emergency on-call duties for other students & we would see him in the hall helping other students with academics..In such a short time we knew him, we saw what a giving & caring person he was..I hope knowing all this will help you through this time..Bless all of you

Will (yes I was the only one to call him Will) was the kindest, sweetest, most gentle soul I've ever known. I'm so proud to have known him and to have been his friend.
