George RICHARDSON Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - George W. Richardson answered the Master's call on Friday, June 4, 2010, in Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 8, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late Ruth and George D. Richardson. His home now is the mansion Christ has prepared for him.
In his youth, he accepted Christ into his life and became a member of Chickahominy Baptist Church. He attended Bruton Heights School and James Blair. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. He continued his military endeavors with the National Guards. He retired from Eastern State Hospital, after 15 years of service.
In 1991, he completed an Evangelistic Course, under the leadership of Bishop Willie Hilton, at the Friendship Institute of Theology. In 2001, he joined hands in fellowship with Resurrection International and served his church as a Minister. He also was the founder and owner of Richardson Cleaning Service. To George, no one was a stranger and he will greatly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his loving and devoted wife, Gwendolyn Smalls Richardson; his children, Robert, Yusuf, Kyle, Danielle and Candace; his grandchildren; his aunt, June A. Hill; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Whiting's Chapel with Elder Anthony Clemons officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 1139 Blalock Drive by 11a.m. on Saturday. Mr. Richardson may be viewed on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail Williamsburg, Virginia. 757-229-3011 View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

I worked with Mr. Richardson at Eastern State Hospital and he always had a friendly smile for all who came in contact with him. He enjoyed his work and did an outstanding job and helped many people, both staff and patients. I extend my sympathies to the family.

To Minister Gwen and family,

We all are going to miss Minister George and how he truly was a servant of God and to His people. There was nothing that George wouldn't do for anyone. Indeed He now resides with our Heavenly Father; a place we all aspire to be! Just know that the Butler family is here for you and your family. We will continue to lift you all up in prayer for strength and comfort. May the peace of God keep you now and forever more. Love you.
