Georgie COMPTON Obituary
Georgie was born April 7, 1929, in Honaker, Va. She resided in Newport News, Va., for 57 years. She moved to Gloucester in 2009. Georgie was a graduate of Honaker High School Class of 1946. She was a teacher in Russell County and also worked several years at Coats and Clark and MICA Co. Inc.
Georgie was a loving wife and mother who was totally devoted to her family. She had a smile that would light up the room, and a generous, giving heart. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was an Angel on earth and now she's an angel in Heaven.
Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Vada Hubbard; and her brother, LeRoy Hubbard.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Cecil L. Compton; her daughters, Diane Duchin and her husband, Eric of Newport News, Lisa Game and her husband, Doug of Gloucester, Debbie Liston and her husband, Mike of Gloucester; her sisters, Betty Cruz, Dorothy Hubbard, Shirley Hubbard and Brenda Hubbard; her brothers, Joe Hubbard, Bill Hubbard and Kenny Hubbard; and her grandchildren, Cory Coleman, Chris Clary, Rachel Game, D.J. Game, Sydney Liston and Ryleigh Liston.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, by Pastor Dave Edgill in Petsworth Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

I love and miss you so much. My sweet little Falula went to heaven a few weeks ago, so I hope you and Daddy are loving on her and you're all taking care of one another. Ive been sad and feeling awful lonely. Falula comforted me so much when you passed, she would lick my tears away and she never forgot the name "Gwanny". I had to be careful not to say it in front of her because she would go look for you.
Could you send me another sign that you and Daddy are okay? I know i'm selfish and want "burning bushes" to stop my worries and dispair.

Seven years ago today, my beautiful Mommy left this earthly plane. Seven years ago, my heart was forever broken, my soul was shattered, and everything forever changed. Todaywould have been my sweet Mommy's 87th Birthday. Deep in the mountains of southwest Virginia, at her grandmother's farmhouse, Dr. Whited delivered her beautiful soul into this world, eighty-seven years ago on this day. I envy the fact that he had the privilege of holding this precious angel when she took her first breaths. I cherish the fact that I had the privilege to hold her in mine when she took her last ones.
My mommy was the first of 9 children born to a coal miner and his wife. She grew up surrounded by love and she radiated that love throughout her entire life.
My sweet Mommy honestly was one of the kindest, most loving, beautiful and giving souls to ever walk this earth. An opinion not only held by me, but by everyone who ever encountered her. She was love and goodness personified. She had unbiased compassion, innate desire to help others, an endless ability to love unconditionally. She was also so fiercely strong, self-sufficient and fearless.
She had a passion for learning, reading, and education, and unbreakable determination. Any and every aspect of these qualities I possess, I owe entirely to her.
I could list her superlatives forever and still have more to list. But perhaps the greatest one was her absolute and unconditional love for her family, especially for her 3 daughters. Her world revolved around us, and every second of our lives, we knew that and stayed wrapped safely in that confidence of her love. I strive to be even half of the beautiful person she was. .. and I try to live my life in a way that would make her proud. And even if I fall short of these goals, I know she is still bursting with pride and thinks I'm perfect. It's her birthday, yet I am reminded of all the "gifts" I've gotten from her. The gifts of love, self confidence, self-value, determination, love of learning and reading, wanderlust, compassion... I could go on and on.. but suffice to say, again, I owe everything good in me to her. I'm everything I am, because she loves me.

Merry Christmas in Heaven, Mommy. I love you so much...and wish you could be here with us. You and Daddy are and always will be the center of our family..and our Christmas. Thank you for being such great "Santa Clauses" when we were little... you always made Christmas so magical and special. Going above and beyond to fulfill our wishes and fill our home and hearts with love. Driving all over town to make sure you got the gifts we wanted, standing in line for hours, and staying up all Christmas eve just so we'd always have the most wonderful Christmas. Eighty-six years ago today, this world was truly blessed with the birth of this most beautiful soul, my Mommy. She was truly beautiful, inside and out. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone, she always found the good in everyone, and the beauty in each moment of life. She loved her family, my Daddy, and especially her 3 daughters and her grandchildren, completely and unconditionally.

This time of year is so hard.. I'd give anything to be able to have you and Daddy celebrate the holidays with us. it's just not the same without you. You will forever be the nucleus of our family.
