Gladys Pace Obituary

SALISBURY, N.C. - Gladys Aslee Pace, 89, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 11, 2009.
She was born in Hendersonville, N.C. on June 29, 1920. At the time of her death, she resided at the Lutheran Home in Salisbury, N.C., but, since 1943, had been a Hampton resident, where she was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She had also attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Yorktown. Gladys was a very sweet and wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, who always loved spending time with children and cooking. She will be sadly missed by many.
Preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. Levi and Louise Queen; and her loving husband of 51 years, John L. Pace.
Gladys is survived by her two sons, Richard Pace and wife, Jewel of Hendersonville, N.C., and Donald Levi and wife, Sharon of Hampton; and five daughters, Judy Hodgins and husband, Wayne of Cleveland, Ohio, Vivian Smith and husband, Ernie of Yorktown, Va., Brenda DiSano and husband, Larry of Spring, Texas, Joyce Lamm and husband, Fred of Hampton, Va., and Janice Keller and husband, Joey of Salisbury, N.C.
Gladys, known to many as "Granny," was a grandmother to 14, Kimberly Jewel, Ernest Smith Jr., Eric Smith, Rebecca DiSano, Johnathan DiSano, Keila DiSano, Loretta Metts, Denise Newman, Wayne Keller, Chris Pace, Robin Bloxom, Tracy Bloxom, David Levi and Jeff Levi. She was a great-grandmother to 17; and a great great-grandmother to three. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Lawrence Biermann.
