Gloria SMITH Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Gloria Jean Smith was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010. She entered into the "Gates of Heaven", peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
"Glo" as she was so affectionately called, was born on May 12, 1964. She was the daughter of Sarah Williams and the late Thomas Lee Williams of Franklin, Va. During her childhood, she attended Southampton High school, where she enjoyed running track. After high school, she was blessed with her two daughters, Felicia and Katrina Williams. She later moved to Williamsburg, where she worked for 10 years at Kingsmill Resort. Later, Gloria met Gene Smith and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on March 14, 2003. Together, they shared many years of happiness.
There was never a time that you would see Gloria with a frown on her face. She was always smiling and very friendly to those she encountered. She was always willing to lend a hand and would help anyone that she could.
Gloria was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Williams.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her loving husband, Gene Smith; her daughters, Felicia Williams and Katrina Williams; her stepson, Jamil Smith; her granddaughter, Keyanah Jefferson; her grandsons, Xavier Travers, HyNeeph Travers, Joshua Jefferson Jr., and KeShawn Jefferson; her mother, Sarah Williams; her sisters, Feddie Williams and Margaret Ricks; her brothers, Thomas Lee Williams Jr. (Celia), and Michael Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, many other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Rising Sun Baptist Church, Lackey, Va., with the Rev. David Spratley officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 926 Pheasant Run by 11:45 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Smith may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Gene, Felicia, and Trina, I know at this time nothing can be said or done to ease your pain. Just take pride in knowing that Glo is in a better place. Free of suffering, heartache and pain. I'm sure she is already making herself at home and getting straight to her duties as her family's new gaurdian angel. Her body is gone but her soul is still right here with you. Love you all dearly...
