It has been said that appreciation is a wonderful thing, because it makes what is excellent in others become a part of us all. As I reflect on Trey’s life and his passing, it is easy for me to appreciate having known this young man. Trey was talented, gifted, and determined to be a decent and honest man. In his early years, he was one of about a dozen boys at St. Cyprian’s Church who took seriously an oath, to do his duty to God and Country; even though being a Boy Scout was not necessarily the hippest thing to be. Trey dedicated his valuable time to developing life skills by being an honor student, practicing and playing his sax and enjoying outdoor life, especially wilderness camping. As he grew into manhood, his dedication to excellence was reflected in his work. If you gave Trey a laundry list, he could set it to music. He knew that music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Trey tried to make a better world with what he had and to make himself better too. But, as we all know that in this life, all of our endeavors are never achieved. I am blessed to have known Trey.
